Step 1: Safety First Before starting any maintenance work on your Cub Cadet mower, ensure your safety by wearing goggles and gloves. This will protect your eyes and hands from any potential hazards.

Step 2: Prepare the Mower Make sure your Cub Cadet Ultima Series ZTXS is parked on a flat, level surface. Engage the parking brake and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down before proceeding.

Step 3: Locate the Oil Drain Plug Locate the oil drain plug underneath the mower. It is usually positioned on the side or bottom of the engine. Consult your owner's manual if you have difficulty finding it. Place the oil pan or container directly beneath the oil drain plug to catch the old oil.

Step 4: Drain the Old Oil Carefully remove the oil drain plug using a wrench or socket set. Ensure the oil pan is positioned correctly to catch the old oil as it drains out. Allow the oil to fully drain until it trickles to a stop.

Step 5: Replace the Oil Filter Locate the oil filter on your Cub Cadet Ultima Series ZTXS. It is typically positioned near the oil drain plug. Using an appropriate wrench or oil filter removal tool, loosen and remove the old oil filter. Dispose of the old filter properly. Apply a thin coat of oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter. Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it securely.

Step 6: Refill with New Oil Refer to your owner's manual for the recommended oil type and quantity specific to your Cub Cadet Ultima Series ZTXS model. Use a funnel to pour the new oil into the oil filler tube. Slowly add the oil and periodically check the oil level using the dipstick. Avoid overfilling. Once the oil reaches the proper level, securely reattach the oil filler cap.

Step 7: Clean Up and Proper Disposal Wipe any spilled oil off the mower using a clean rag or paper towels. Dispose of the old oil and filter properly, following local recycling or disposal guidelines. Many auto parts stores and service centers accept used oil for recycling.

Step 8: Maintenance Record Keep a maintenance record to track your oil changes. Note the date, oil type used, and any other relevant details. This will help you stay on schedule with future oil changes and provide a comprehensive maintenance history for your Cub Cadet Ultima Series ZTXS.
